Activities (formerly Minigames) are small games that allow players to gain experience and items. They are identified with a red star icon on the map. Activities can be repeated, unlike quests or miniquests which can only be completed once. You must be a member to play most activities, although a small number are available to free-to-play players.

All the activities currently available in RuneScape are listed below, each with a short description and a link to the main article.


Combat Activities[]

These activites involve the training of combat skills, however many also involve non-combat skills.

Name Description Rewards
Barbarian Assault (m) A team combat activity. Armour, gamble, exp bonuses.
Barrows (m) A single player combat activity. Barrows equipment - a powerful category of sets of armour. Other rewards, such as runes available.
Bounty Hunter Players get an assigned target to kill, but can kill anyone they want. One of the five free-to-play activity. Whatever the player's target drops.
Burgh de Rott Ramble (m) (reverse route of Temple Trekking) A game where players have to guide potential Myreque recruits to Burgh de Rott from Paterdomus. Reward Tokens, which are randomly exchanged for items or experience. A piece of Lumberjack clothing is also possible if you encounter the "Undead Lumberjack" random event.
Castle Wars (m) A popular competitive game of combat Capture the Flag, in which two teams try to bring their flag back to their base. Castle Wars tickets, which can be traded in for Castle Wars armour and capes.
Clan Wars Anyone in a clan chat on the same world gets to fight another clan chat in a battle. There are also free-for-all and PvP arenas. Depending on the settings chosen, if you die during this activity, it is possible that you will lose your items. One of the five free-to-play activities. None, except pride and exp gained through combat.
Duel Arena Players duel each other, with the ability to set special rules. Changed to a free-to-play activity on December 10th, 2007. One of the five free-to-play activities. Stakes up to 3000 coins (or equivalent items) can be made. The winner receives the opponents stake.
Fist of Guthix A tactical one-on-one game with two rounds, in which one player collects charges with a magical stone while the other is trying to hunt them down. In the second round, the players switch sides. One of the five free-to-play minigames. Fist of Guthix tokens that can be used to buy many types of armour and useful items to give bonus exp.
Mage Arena (m) Players battle with mages here to learn God spells. God Spells, God Staves, God Capes.
Pest Control (m) A team combat activity which involves protecting the vulnerable Void Knight while fighting incoming monsters. Points, which can be spent on combat experience or a few items.
Pyramid Plunder (m) A source of Thieving experience. Combat is integrated into the game. Items stolen trade for exp and coins.
Ranging Minigame (m) A way to train Ranging which can be profitable. Players can even receive tickets, which can be exchanged for for items, such as rune arrows.
Rat Pits (m) Players can train their cats to be a hellcat or a wiley cat in these arenas of battle between cats and mice. Coins
Shades of Mort'ton (m) Build up a temple and defend it from attacking evil spirits. It trains Crafting, Firemaking, and combat. Fine cloth (to make splitbark armour) and other miscellaneous items.
Tai Bwo Wannai Clean-up (m) Players help clean up the village of Tai Bwo Wannai, while encountering monsters, such as Bush Snakes and Broodoo Victims. Players earn the village currency of trading sticks.
Temple Trekking (m) (reverse route of Burgh de Rott Ramble) A game where players have to guide potential Myreque recruits to Paterdomus from Burgh de Rott. Reward Tokens, which are randomly exchanged for items or experience. A piece of Lumberjack clothing is also possible if you encounter the "Undead Lumberjack" random event.
TzHaar Fight Cave (m) Players fight alone against an army of Tzhaar monsters. If they can defeat TzTok-Jad, they will get a Fire cape. Other rewards are tokkul.
TzHaar Fight Pit (m) Players fight in a pit in a safe, free-for-all environment. Tokkul is rewarded to the winner of each round, equal to the total combat level of defeadted players.

Other Activities[]

These activities do not involve combat, but involve other skills.

All Fired Up Firemaking Players must light Beacons spread along the Wilderness edge. Each beacon require specific Firemaking level, up to 92. Players must have completed the All Fired Up Quest. New woodcutting, mining and firemaking equipment.
Blast Furnace Smithing An efficient way to smelt bars of metal, as well as a source of experience in several different skills. Unknown
Brimhaven Agility Arena Agility An Agility course for players with moderately high Agility levels. Tickets, which can be traded in for experience or items.
Burthorpe Games Room - A room where players can compete in various board games. Ranking points, used purely for pride.
Fishing Trawler Fishing An interesting fishing activity in which players sail along the sea trying to keep a leaking ship afloat while they fix their net and catch some fish. Fish, depending on the player's fishing level. The only place where Sea Turtle and Manta Ray can be caught.
Gnome Ball Agility Ranged An activity where players try to pass and charge with a small ball towards a hoop to score a goal, while defending gnomes attempting to tackle them before they can throw it. None.
Gnome Restaurant Cooking Players deliver food to customers with a time limit Unique rewards.
The Great Orb Project Runecrafting The goal is to collect the orbs, and to prevent the other team from collecting these orbs. The two teams will be collecting two types of orbs: yellow and green. One of the five free-to-play activity. Runes, Rune or Pure essence, Tokens which trade in for prizes
Impetuous Impulses Hunter An activity where you catch implings in magical jars. Vary from a chisel to pieces of dragon arrows.
Mage Training Arena Magic An activity, which is four seperate "sub-activities". Different Points, which can be exchanged for items and abilities such as runes, the Bones to Peaches spell, or Infinity Robes.
Ranging Minigame Ranging An activity in which you shoot at targets Archery tickets, which can be exchanged for ranging items.
Rogues' Den Agility Thieving Players navigate a maze with traps and obstacles. Failure results in teleportation out. Depending on success, players earn Agility and Thieving experience as well as Rogue armour.
Rogue Trader - Players barter with Ali Morrisane. Cheap runes, clothes, and blackjacks.
Sorceress's Garden Thieving Players attempt to sneak around watchful elementals guarding their gardens to get the a Sq'irk Tree to pick Sq'irk fruits. Fruits which when traded gives thieving exp or herbs.
Stealing Creation All skills except Farming, Slayer and Firemaking Players make combat resources from clay which can be collected using the 4 'base skills'. Teams then go into battle. Points, which can be exchanged for volatile or morphic tools, weapons or armour, which give a 100% experience boost.
Trouble Brewing Multiple skills Two teams compete as each try to brew the most bottles of rum. Experience in a variety of skills can be earned for performing the many tasks needed in the process of rum production.
Vinesweeper Farming A minesweeper-like game Farming experience or seeds.

Safe and Dangerous classifications[]

Jagex has classified activities as either Safe or Dangerous. Also see Items Kept on Death and Items Not Kept on Death.


Safe[]

  • Barbarian Assault - You will not lose your items if you die.
  • Burthorpe Games Room - There is nothing to kill you here unless you are poisoned.
  • Castle Wars - You will not lose your items if you die (excluding Castle War Standards).
  • Clan Wars - Depending on the settings chosen, if you die during this activity, it is possible that you will not lose your items.
  • Duel Arena- If you die you just get put in a hospital in the Duel Arena
  • Fishing Trawler - There is nothing to kill you here unless you are poisoned.
  • Fist of Guthix - You will not lose your items if you die, although it does require travel through the Wilderness that can easily be made safe if you bank your items and withdraw them at the activity.
  • Gnome Restaurant - There is nothing to kill you here unless you are poisoned or take damage making a delivery.
  • The Great Orb Project - There is nothing to kill you here unless you are poisoned or meet a random event at one of the altars.
  • Impetuous Impulses - There is nothing to kill you here unless you are poisoned or look for Implings in a dangerous location such as the Wilderness.
  • Managing your kingdom - There is nothing to kill you here unless you are poisoned.
  • Mage Training Arena - You will not lose your items if you die. However, in the Graveyard part, if you die, you will lose 10 pizzazz points.
  • Pest Control - You will not lose your items if you die.
  • Ranging Minigame - There is nothing to kill you here unless you are poisoned.
  • Rogues' Den - You will not lose your items if you die.
  • Rogue Trader - There is nothing to kill you here, although it will involve travel into the desert.
  • Sorceress's Garden - There is nothing to kill you here unless you are poisoned.
  • Stealing Creation - You can't bring items into the activity, however any items you have obtained in the activity will be lost upon death and the end of game.
  • Trouble Brewing - There is nothing to kill you here, although it will involve travel past aggressive monsters.
  • TzHaar Fight Cave - You will not lose your items if you die.
  • TzHaar Fight Pit - You will not lose your items if you die.
  • Vinesweeper - There is nothing to kill you here unless you are poisoned.

Dangerous[]

  • All Fired Up - You need to light some beacons, which can be found in the Wilderness.
  • Barrows - If you die during this activity, you will lose your items.
  • Blast Furnace - You can be damaged by the steam lever. If you die, you will lose your items.
  • Brimhaven Agility Arena - If you die during this activity, you will lose your items.
  • Bounty Hunter - If you die during this activity, you will lose all of your items.
  • Clan Wars - Depending on the settings chosen, if you die during this activity, it is possible that you will lose your items.
  • Gnome Ball - You can take damage from playing Gnome Ball, so there is a small chance of death, in which case you will lose your items.
  • Mage Arena - If you die during this activity, you will lose your items.
  • Pyramid Plunder - If you die during this activity, you will lose your items.
  • Rat Pits - It is possible that your cat may die.
  • Shades of Mort'ton (activity) - If you die during this activity, you will lose your items.
  • Tai Bwo Wannai Clean-up - If you die during this activity, you will lose your items.
  • Temple Trekking / Burgh de Rott Ramble - If you die during this activity, you will lose your items. Your gravestone will NOT work in this activity.
