Pre-History[]

The RuneKillaz[]

In the early weeks of 2007 Lolfool1 started a clan known as the Runekillaz. He wanted to create his own clan after seeing several other clans and liking the idea of having a group to help explore the game together. Although it is unclear where he got the idea from, he decided to issue the clan a uniform. The "distinctive" priest gowns and black wizard hats, which were worn by lower level and poorer users, became the uniform. The clan grew rapidly thanks to the help of his friends and co-leaders Cool4js and Fromoblivion. Overtime, the Runekillaz increased its amount of members. However, none of the leaders actually kept track of them. They would recruit a person and would not bother to add them to their friends list. Although they were a young and inexperienced clan, the Runekillaz found their first enemies in the Warriors Till Death clan, led by Untouchable6 and Amboyzfresh. Like The Runekillaz, W.T.D had their own distinctive uniform which was a full blue wizard outfit with blue capes. Runekillaz and W.T.D never actually fought any battles, but their rivalry would have a legacy that would live on long after their clans had been forgotten.

Closer to Perfection[]

After Lolfool1 had closed Runekillaz for good, he made a slew of other clans from late 2007(?) to mid-2008, sharpening his leadership skills with every passing clan. He kept certain aspects such as uniforms and level requirements which he also used during his time in the Runekillaz, and he later brought that and more into his newest clan called Blooddrop Syndicate. By this time team capes were available to free users so Lolfool1 decided to use the team 49 cape as it looked like a drop of blood. This clan also did not last and it had a shorter lifespan than the Runekillaz. So Lolfool1, exhausted from the trial and error of making clans and not having them be successful, gave it a final shot.

First Age[]

Free-To-Play Riots[]

In 2008, Lolfool1 closed the Blood Drop Syndicate clan and created the World 90 Monarchs; the culmination of all of his previous clans. The initial goal was to make a PvP clan based in World 90 for any users that were level 80 and above. During his time as leader, he had only recruited two other people into the clan, but he had his sights set on something else. Inspired by the Pay-to-PK riots of 2007, he wanted to start another riot for more options for F2P users. He wanted to focus his full attention on that movement and the clan leadership would alter his plans. So he passed leadership onto one of his old members of the Runekillaz named Rolonisis. Rolonisis was also a supporter in Lolfool1's movement but he was more focused on the clan. After almost a couple of weeks had passed and the riot died down, Rolonisis started reshaping the clan to be more of a gang. He wanted to troll and get revenge on the users that did not support the free to play riots.

Three Kings[]

In the early days of the Monarchs, under Rolonisis's reign, the clan was just as disorganized as the Runekillaz were. The clan had gone through a very slow recruitment phase during this time, and the ones who did join did not stay for very long. It wasn't until two people named Cy518 and 321Rollout joined the clan later on in the year did the World 90 Monarchs find its base. The three of them recruited more members, largely due to Rollout, and finally kept track of them. Rolonisis used the south-east section of Varrock as his base of operations. It eventually became the clan's first territory, thus, making the clan a POC or player owned city. This influx of new people slowly died down once Cy518 left Runescape, leaving only two of the original three leaders behind. Some point during this second down time, Rolonisis brought in Slamitor and Kionzu.

321Rollout started becoming inactive at this point. So, Slamitor and Kionzu replaced him and Cy518 as Rolonisis's right-hand men. Rolonisis gave the two jobs they had to do while in the clan as its defacto co-leaders. Slamitor left the clan due to issues with Rolonisis and created his own clan in Draynor Village called The Juveniles. Kionzu just left the clan, presumably because Slamitor had left. It was just Rolonisis and 321Rollout once again. The clan had another surge of new members thanks to Rollout. It was at this time that Rolonisis tried a new practice that would define the clan months and years down the road. He decided to split the clan up into sections lead by senior members. It was a completely new idea and hadn't been tried by any previous clan on RuneScape. Unfortunetly, this first attempt at reorganizing the clan had failed, and The World 90 Monarchs had lost the majority of its new members.

Later on, possibly late 2008 or early 2009, Rolonisis and Rollout went on another recruitment trip when Rollout brought in a small group of people, one of them being zida789. It was this group that would push the World 90 Monarchs, which was now just called "The Monarchs", into it's new age. They were no longer a loosely controlled group of disconnected people, they were finally a clan. With more members joining, and with even more hesitation, Rolonisis spoke with Rollout and decided to retry splitting up the clan into different factions. They had learned from their mistakes and the clan finally introduced its first sub-division known as The First Royal Family. Later shortened to The Royal Family, or "TRF". As the clan grew from this new group of people, it was dealt a devastating blow. When 321Rollout left RuneScape after weeks of on and off inactivity, he took some of the clan's morale with him. He was a great help to Rolonisis in helping him bring the clan up from nothing, and stuck with him through the long era of dull boringness. But he felt that it was his time to depart from the clan, leaving Rolonisis with a bunch of newer Monarchs and without a co-leader for a very long time.

Second Age[]

The Rules of War[]

Around the time of Rollout's departure, former another Monarch, Slamitor found one of the clan members that Rollout had recruited in Falador named Redwood. It was said that he trolled her so bad she decided to quit the clan. This caused an outrage within the Monarchs. Word got back to Rolonisis and he decided to retaliate by going into Draynor Village and taking revenge on Slamitor. Eventually, a war of words became an actual clan battle. By this time the Juveniles also had a decent amount of members. The two clans met at Clan Wars (the original location) and the Juveniles had left victorious in their first battle against the Monarchs. There was a second battle which the Monarchs had ended up victorious. Not long after, the two clans, noticing a vacuum of power in World 90, began to scramble for more territory. The Juveniles expanded into Lumbridge, and the Monarchs expanded out of south-east Varrock into the rest of the city, and briefly claimed territory in Falador. By this time, the newer members that Rollout had recruited weeks earlier became clan Generals. They followed Rolonisis and started their own sub-clans. First, came Zida's Knights of Zamorak or K.O.Z. To establish some ground rules in the war, both The Juveniles and The Monarchs decided in order to claim more territory for their clans, they'd have to have their respective generals claim it. KOZ claimed Falador. Slamitor did not have any Generals at the time, but he claimed Lumbridge castle, and eventually relocated there with his new sub-clan called Wreckless Lumbridge.

Abandoning Old Practices[]

When most of the Monarchs began getting stronger, they one by one decided to switch to play on P2P which didn't sit very well with Rolonisis. When it first came under his control, The Monarchs were a free-to-play only clan and did not like pay-to-play users. After pushback from his Generals, Rolonisis allowed them to continue being in the clan as P2P users. Around this time, Zida became Rolonisis's right hand woman. The clan had reached a new high when more people joined and the atmosphere of the clan became more lively. Much of this portion of Monarch history has been forgotten.

Third Age[]

New Players on the Court[]

The Monarchs now found themselves at their highest peak. The golden-age began on the 4th of April 2011 with the introduction of The Clan Camp. The Monarchs celebrated by designing a cape that was their own instead of buying team-49 capes which anyone could obtain. With a single stroke of his brush, Rolonisis designed the cloak and vexillum. The team 49 capes had been quickly phased out and replaced by the custom designed clan cloak. With the introduction of the clan camp came other clans. The first clan the the Monarchs had encountered were the Zamorak Warriors led by Morio201. Zida, who was now the official co-leader of the Monarchs, had quickly established an alliance with the Zamorak Warriors while Rolonisis gave him up to speed with the war in World 90. Soon after that, the Juveniles followed suit and allied with another clan named The Phantom Thieves. Both of these newer clans had outnumbered both the Monarchs and the Juveniles, but both leaders realized the benefits of creating alliances with them. The Phantom Thieves, led by Sincrostire, later joined the Juveniles after Slamitor had had talks with them to join their clan as a sub.
Garbage

An exact replica of what The Monarchs vexillum design looked like. It displays all four of the clan's colors as well as its symbolism.

The Phantom Thieves were set up in Falador with Slamitor's help, and The Zamorak Warriors shared territory with KOZ in east Varrock. These clans fought on the side of the Monarchs, but not coming from the same starting point that Rolonisis and Slamitor had, they called a truce and wanted the two clans to make a stop fighting. Morio, Sincrostire, and Zida were all in agreement to stop the war and combine all four clans. However, the final decision was up to the warring clan's leaders. After a brief meeting at the clan camp, both Rolonisis and Slamitor said no, and parted ways. Rolonisis would later say that he regretted making that desicison because it could have saved the Monarchs. But his judgement was clouded by pride. He had made this clan into one of the top clans in World 90, and he did not want to share that culture and legacy with newer clans even if they were his friends. A secondary reason is that he did not want to work with Slamitor.

Rise and Fall[]

Rolonisis later changed his name to VMG Nisis. VMG was a title in the clan which stood for Veteran Monarch General, and could be given by Nisis to any General that had been active in the clan for a certain period of time. Zida789 soon changed hers to VMG Zida. At this point, the clan had over one hundred members, two powerful allies, and strong leadership. The clan had hit the glass ceiling in 2011, it had been generous and favorable to the Monarchs. But 2012 was the anchor that brought the clan back down to its early roots. The year started off normal, and that normality continued through the summer with the clan celebrating it's last annual anniversary in August. Later in the month, the floor caved in. Many members of the clan had left RuneScape, and the general population of the game had decreased which made it difficult to recruit new members to replace the older ones. Also The two allied clans, Zamorak Warriors and Phantom Thieves, had fell into inactivity for the most part and the entire Juvenile clan seem to have vanished from the game as well. The clan had faced a down time before a year earlier around the same time but now it was clear why that happened. With the school year begining, many people had left to focus on their schooling which left little to no time for the clan. VMG Nisis was also considering leaving to move on with his life. After playing Runescape since 2008 and leading the clan for four years, he felt it was time to depart from RuneScape. He felt it was time for Zida to permanently take lead of the clan. He took her under his wing in a similar way Lolfool1 did for him. He taught her everything he thought she should know about leading a clan and the history of The Monarchs. He relinquished his title and passed it down, then left the game for good.

Betrayal[]

VMG Nisis returned to visit one year later only to find the clan had been changed so much that it wasn't even recognizable anymore. His clan that he had built from the ground up for four years had been renamed from The Monarchs to The Cult of Angels with a new vexillum design. Infuriated, he had spoken to Zida and wanted to know what had happened to the clan. Knowing that she could of rejected the role and gave it to the other two VMG's Blade and Wiz, she accepted it knowing she would not be able to handle being a leader on her own. Wiz and Blade were also no longer in the clan. To make matters worse, Zida began trolling Nisis and even allowing her newer friends from The Cult of Angels to help her troll him. This monumental act of mutiny and disrespect was not taken lightly. Zida was given the responsibility of leading the clan and she showed that she not only was incapable of it, but did not care about it. Even after four years under Nisis's wing. The clan briefly reemerged in 2016 with all of the VMG's and a couple regular members returning around the same time. This was more of an impromptu reunion however. It was suggested that they should continue the clan, but Nisis and Zida once again got into an argument and Nisis left again, and the clan never resurfaced.

Sub-Sets[]

The Monarchs were separated into smaller sub-divisions simply called "subs". Their names followed a specific theme which was either royalty, or Zamorakian worship. Many subs were either renamed or went defunct over time, some were outright forgotten. The subs were established in order to give the generals a certain amount of power within the clan and to allow them to govern a part of the clan the way they saw fit. There were very little differences between the different sub clans because they all wore the same colors and unlike the Juveniles, they did not split into their own clans, but remained branches in the main clan.
The Royal Familyor T.R.F. is the oldest, most powerful and influential of all the submissive clans. The leader and founder of The Royal Family was VMG Nisis (Rolonisis). They originally occupied the entire city of Varrock, but shared their territory with future clans. Their main territory was the south-east section of Varrock. They expanded to control the eastern half. Their main rivals were the Liberi-Juveniles since they were both the oldest subs from their respective clans.
  • High Temple Monarchs - were founded by VMG Nisis originally as an offshoot of TRF. The H.T.M. sub claimed the north-east section of Varrock with the church that exists in north-east Varrock which is how the sub got its name. This sub eventually went defunct and reabsorbed into TRF..
Knights of Zamorak - The Knights of Zamorak or K.O.Z. was a sub which was founded and led by VMG Zida (zida789). They originally occupied the west half of Varrock (excluding the Grand Exchange). Their turf shrank after April of 2011 when the other clans came to World 90. They eventually shared territory with the Zamorak Warriors. Their rivals were the Liberi Juveniles as well as the Emeral City Gang.
Underground Knights of Zamorak (?) - Their official name has been forgotten, but it is likely they had a similar name to KOZ. UKZ was their official abbreviation. Their leader was VMG Wiz.
